Matthieu Blazy’s third collection for Chanel has landed and I loved a majority of the looks. Were there some pieces that looked like a repeat from the previous season ? Yes. But there were plenty of new pieces to go around. The way that he plays with tweed and makes it look youthful is what I have loved about Matthieu Blazy, ever since his debut. As someone who was only ever interested in the shoes and accessories from Chanel, I now have my eye on their clothing. Granted, I have ways to go before I can afford a full closet of Chanel but this new ss27 collection is motivating me to get there, one day.

What I’m curious to see more of are these prints from the two looks below. Though not similar in pattern, these prints reminded me of Prada’s ss2011 looks – the ones with the banana motif. Let’s see if Matthieu continues these for his next show, or if they were a one-off design.

These two dresses with their billowing trains, wide-open short sleeves were another highlight for me, styled perfectly with the earrings and necklace. I would have loved to see a white or bridal version of this dress, as I can see many contemporary brides wanting a casual and cool take on a bridal wear.

The star of the show, in my opinion, was Rachel Ojuromi, a Lagos-based content creator, whose runway videos caught Matthieu’s eye. Her presence on the runway is very-much deserved. Her content is such a breath of fresh air, amongst the same copy-and-paste fashion content that I have been seeing this past year. I hope this inspires other brands to look beyond the usual content creators in the West when it comes who they platform, be it on their runways, editorials and even in their decision-making rooms.
