Filles A Papa

Daddy’s girls. Aren’t we all – dare I say weren’t we all – at some point ? If French is not your mother tongue nor your second or third, Filles a Papa literally means “Daddy’s Girls”. I’m sure that’s what the Belgian sister design duo Carol and Sarah Piron are. Having launched in 2009 in Belgium, they have managed to capture the fashion world with their sequins, ripped denim and cut-out pieces that to me symbolise a couldn’t-care-less-attitude to the current fashion trends.

I had the pleasure of meeting their team in October during Paris Fashion Week and their showroom had the most exciting spring / summer 16 denim pieces I had ever seen. It’s looks like DIY on a super professional level. You look at a piece like the Kris sweater and think, yeah I can do that, except there is the fine detail of the crystal embellishment sewn along the edges of what is essentially a missing left arm. I mean, give it a go at home, but honestly, this duo does it to a whole new level of perfection.
